【#Director Insights】 #43 2025 Mid-Year Reflection: We Don’t Take the Fast Lane—Only the Right One
Unknowingly, half of 2025 has already passed.
For us at Kamicarv, this half-year wasn’t about rushing to create new works, but about spending a lot of time looking inward—reconsidering what it is we truly want to persist in doing.
This era is changing too fast. It’s easy to follow trends, but we’d rather stay grounded and walk to the beat of our own rhythm. Today, I’d like to share with you three things I feel are truly important.
First, we spent a lot of time enhancing our “aesthetic sensibility.”
Not just the aesthetics of the artworks themselves, but also the brand atmosphere, the team’s visual taste, and even the way each of us sees “beauty”—we’ve all raised the bar.
We spent a great deal of time re-examining our past works, from composition and color palette, to overall design language, and even the harmony between the wooden frame and the paper carving— we refined and adjusted them, all for the sake of a purer, more precise expression.
Not because the original versions were bad, but because we believe “Beauty” has no end—only the attitude of continuous refinement and elevation.
Second, we started boldly attempting to “break the norm.”
Faced with an ever-changing environment, we know that if we don’t change, we’ll simply be eliminated.
So our design team took the initiative to try new techniques, like using AI to synthesize concept sketches. This saved us a lot of time during the ideation stage, and also helped us communicate needs more effectively with clients— making our proposals more accurate.
We also ventured into cross-disciplinary collaborations, allowing technology to become a tool that assists creation— not one that replaces it.
We’re not trying to “chase trends,” but aiming to use smarter methods to make our works more complete—and more emotionally resonant.
Third, we insist on “not following trends,” and creating works that are truly our own.
We know that nowadays, many creators are chasing traffic, hype, and mimicking others.
But we care more about whether a piece carries a “soul” behind it.
Kamicarv’s paper carvings aren’t made to please the market. What we want to make are pieces that can “last,” that express emotions and collect stories—artworks.
We insist on walking our own path, not following commercial routines, but starting from every customization, every story— slowly carving out something that belongs to that person, that memory.
So we also refined our official description, summarizing what we want to do in a single sentence:
We are a studio specializing in the art of paper carving.
Blending originality, customization, culture, and fashion, we consistently uphold the pursuit of perfection— allowing the quality of art to seep into every piece. Every artwork is born to commemorate a special story.
Closing Words:
This half-year, we experienced an internal upgrade, and made breakthroughs externally. Every small adjustment actually points to a bigger direction —we want to become a creative brand that “sticks to its own voice amid changing times.”
In the second half of the year, we’ll continue to explore, and continue to refine—continuing to use paper carving to commemorate stories worth remembering.
The road ahead, we don’t seek speed, and we won’t blindly chase trends. We only hope that each piece we create is one that deserves to be remembered.
If you’re like us— wanting to sincerely preserve certain special moments in life— then you’re welcome to walk this journey with us: quiet, but real.
