Looking back at the journey we've taken, it amazes us to see just how many horizontal paper carving pieces we’ve created as a team. To be honest, at the beginning, we weren’t particularly fond of making large-format horizontal artworks. The reason was simple — the production process is much more complex than that of regular pieces.

First of all, horizontal artworks tend to be larger in size, which means we need to source special paper materials. These larger sheets are not easy to find. Also, it wasn’t that we didn’t like horizontal formats — it’s just that they demand higher craftsmanship and are far more technically challenging than vertical compositions.

However, with more and more clients requesting custom pieces, we had no choice but to embrace the challenge. Many clients wanted their artworks to blend seamlessly into their living spaces, and the layout of the wall often dictated the size and orientation of the artwork. A good number of clients specifically preferred horizontal designs, as it matched their interiors and furniture arrangements. And just like that, our journey with horizontal paper carvings began.

In addition, once a horizontal piece is completed, it brings another layer of complexity — framing. All of our paper carvings are protected with glass, and the weight of a large horizontal artwork is significantly heavier than a vertical one. With transportation and installation factors to consider, we had to plan every detail in advance. Despite these challenges, we continued pushing our limits, always exploring new possibilities in horizontal compositions.

Did you know? One of the biggest challenges in horizontal artworks is that the larger surface area demands even finer detailing while avoiding a composition that feels empty or flat. Paper carving is all about depth and layering. Every cut and every layer impacts the overall effect. And with larger pieces, even the smallest flaw becomes magnified. That’s why we constantly explore ways to fill the canvas meaningfully and elevate the visual balance.

You may have noticed that many of our horizontal pieces feature special elements. Some are embedded with gold leaf, allowing light to play across the surface and creating a subtle, elegant shimmer. Others incorporate hot-foil stamping, giving metallic lines a more striking, dimensional look. In some pieces, we even hand-embellished them with crystals to bring out more texture and richness. We also use a mix of colored gold powders to add soft, glimmering highlights that change depending on the viewing angle. All of these techniques are intentional — our response to the creative challenges of horizontal composition and our way of making each piece as refined, rich, and complete as possible.

Before we knew it, we had completed many horizontal designs. Looking back, we’ve realized something important: there are things you’ll never discover about yourself until you step up and try. Sometimes, it takes a gentle push to unlock a potential you didn’t know you had.

To every customer who has supported us—thank you. It is your trust and encouragement that gave us the courage to step out of our comfort zone. Your faith in us led to the creation of more diverse, meaningful artworks.

Looking ahead, we’ll continue to challenge ourselves and create even more pieces that surprise and delight.
